Chris served his musical apprenticeship on the rock and club scene of the early ‘70s, being converted to jazz by the influences of his father, trombonist Alan, and uncle, pianist Keith, both huge contributors to North- west jazz in the ‘60s,’70s and ‘80s. Meeting drummer JC Heard at the 1978 Nice Jazz Festival inspired his drumming career.
He has played throughout Europe with Art Themen, Don Weller, Pete King, Don Rendell and Dick Morrisey. Playing in the Marcia Pendlebury Band he was featured on a CD with singer Marcia and Art Themen. Chris played on a rather exciting European tour with the late trombonist Campbell Burnap. In his personal life, he has two major interests – Manchester City FC (in common with Roger Browne, Chris has been a fan all his life.) The other being his Dog who accompanies him to many gigs
